Industries

IT for professional services

Law firms, notaries, accounting practices, and advisory firms from Langley, across B.C. and Canada. Matter files, trust, and tax season run on the systems you already use — under one identity.

EC Managed IT supports professional practices that live in confidential files. A mailbox incident is not an inconvenience. It is client data, a trust ledger, or a tax file that cannot be rebuilt from memory.

Clio, Caseware, TaxCycle, and Unity have to stay up through a closing week and a filing deadline. Backup has to restore those systems, not only the shared drive. Staff have to sign in the same way in the office and at home.

Audience

Who this is for

Law firms and notaries. Accounting and bookkeeping firms. Advisory and consulting practices.

Insurance broker platforms (Applied Epic, Vertafore AMS360, Guidewire) belong on Insurance. Real-estate brokerage platforms (Lone Wolf) belong on Property management. Conveyancing used by lawyers and notaries belongs here.

Operations

What breaks first

  • Matter and working-paper systems are in the cloud and the first outage notice is a lawyer who cannot open a file before court or a closing.
  • Trust and general ledgers sit in CosmoLex, PCLaw, or QuickBooks with no tested restore separate from the file share.
  • Tax tools (TaxCycle, ProFile, Cantax, Taxprep, DT Max) live on a few workstations that are not in the same backup job as the rest of the firm.
  • Documents in NetDocuments, iManage, or Worldox inherit whatever sharing was set years ago.
  • Conveyancing in Unity or eConveyance is treated as “just another app” instead of a closing-day system.

We treat the practice as one estate.

Estate

The practice on one estate

Partners, assistants, and remote staff use one directory. A lost laptop is a wipe, not a guess about which client file was on it.

  • Microsoft 365, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive
  • Microsoft Entra ID, MFA, Conditional Access
  • Endpoint management and email security, CyberSecure Canada certified
  • Backup and restore tested for the line-of-business systems on this page, not only file shares

How we work

How the work is split

Managed IT keeps the estate running. Managed Security owns identity and email. Managed Integration joins practice tools to QuickBooks or Xero when a connector will do. Managed Engineering builds the gap when it will not. Managed AI is available when the firm wants Copilot or other models on that estate — not a chatbot on this website. Client files do not go into an unmanaged personal tool.

Questions

Does EC only serve professional services?

No. This is one of ten industry pages. Headquarters is Langley. The same five practices apply in every sector.

Do we have to change Clio, Caseware, or Unity to work with you?

No. The platforms on this page are systems we support. Keep them.

Is this the same as Insurance or Property management?

No. Brokers sit on Insurance. Real-estate brokerages sit on Property management. Law, notary, accounting, and advisory sit here. Conveyancing used by lawyers and notaries stays here.

Do you work with firms outside Langley?

Yes. Work is delivered from Langley across B.C. and the rest of Canada.
